10 Ways To Prepare Healthy Snacks

Debby, 29, who was listening to this conversation so far, chipped in by saying, “A fruit bowl is one of my favorite healthy snacks ideas. I always have fresh seasonal fruits stocked up and whenever anyone in my family feels like having a snack, I chop some fruit and serve it with light yogurt. Apples, bananas, strawberries, grapes, oranges and kiwi are some of my favorites”.

“Aren’t cracker snacks everyone’s favorite here?”, asked Debby who continued because we all loved her healthy snacks idea of fruit bowls. We all nodded. “You can have freshly chopped tomatoes, cucumber, capsicum or avocado as cracker toppings. Rice crackers are a great choice”, added Debby.

One healthy snack idea that all of us had in common was yogurt. The supermarkets are stocked with low fat yogurts which have some great flavors. “Every morning on my way to work, I buy flavored yogurt to satisfy those mid-day hunger pangs. It is a great healthy snack idea”, added Kim.

Mona said that nut bars were her favorite healthy snack idea. “Who said that supermarket shelves were always full of fatty foods? You will find a wide range of healthy nut bars which you can unwrap anytime of the day to much on a nutty and crunchy bar. Usually, these bars contain walnut, almonds, raisins and other nuts and dry fruits”, she added.

Having a boiled egg is a nice healthy snack idea but it is a double-edged sword. “If you have a tendency to put on weight, avoid the yolk. Just eat the white. Eggs are high in protein and B vitamins”, said Debby. “Often when I’m home during the evening, I boil an egg, throw away the yolk, and cut the boiled egg white into 4 pieces. I sprinkle some salt and pepper for a delicious and a healthy snack”, she added.
