10 Useful Bedtime Skin Care Tips

Skin is one of the most precious assets of the human body. These days women work, run errands and do the household chores. They face harsh climatic elements such as pollution, ultra violet rays and dust. Their hectic schedules along with these elements can leave their skin lifeless. Unhealthy skin can age earlier too. Here are some bed time tips that can help you keep your skin looking young and radiant.

1. Clean your skin pores

It is very important to clean your skin pores before going to sleep, even if you are not any wearing makeup. This will keep the skin pores free from dirt and help them to stay unblocked. Clogged pores can cause acne and skin irritation, so it is important to have a skin cleaning routine. First wash your face with lukewarm water and then use a good cleanser to clean the skin. If you are wearing makeup, use a cleanser first followed by a lukewarm water wash.

2. Use a good moisturizer

Once you have washed your face, it is important to moisturize it. Use a water based moisturizer if your skin is oily and go for a milk or oil based one if your skin is dry. Apply the moisturizer on your hands and face before you go to bed.

3. Exfoliate your skin once a week

Dip a clean cloth into warm water and place it on your face for a few seconds to open the pores. This will not only help remove dead skin cells, but will also give you healthier and radiant skin. Mix two tea spoons of sugar in warm water until it forms a slightly thick paste. Now, gently rub this paste on your face and leave it on for a few minutes. Rinse off with cold water which will aid closing the pores to some extent.

4. Have citric fruits and salad before dinner

Eat citric fruits in the evening and have salad either with or prior to dinner. This will hydrate your skin. Watermelons, melons, oranges, grapefruits provide a lot of water for your body. Don’t go for fruit juices if you have an acidic stomach.

5. Hydrate yourself before you sleep

Drink one glass of water before going to bed. This will detoxify your digestive system and will also hydrate your body and skin. After all, water is essential for keeping the skin young.

6. Apply a night cream

A lot of women have dry and sensitive skin. If your skin is also vulnerable to irritation at night then apply a good night cream. Use a richer moisturizer for dry elbows, dry knees, dry heels etc. You can also use a body oil that contains Aloe Vera or other natural ingredients.

7. Use Vaseline to keep the skin soft

Daily chores can leave your hands and feet feeling dry. If you have very dry hands and heels then apply Vaseline on them. Cover them with gloves and socks before you go to bed.

8. Wear breathable nightwear

Choose a light weight and breathable night suit for yourself. Cotton or hosiery nightwear is ideal for the human skin. Avoid wearing night suits that are made from Polyester. The right night suit will let your skin breathe all night long and make it soft and healthy.

9. Try and sleep on your back

Sleeping on your back can prevent the formation of deep facial lines from the pressure a pillow puts on your skin. So, try and sleep flat on your back.

10. Feel great before you sleep

Smell nice before going to bed. Use Sandalwood, Jasmine or Geranium skin oils in your bathing water. The fragrances will help you relax and sleep better.
