10 Table Manners For Kids That Your Child Must Know

6. Eat food with closed mouth

This is one of the most important aspects of table manners which is keenly observed by people around your kid. No one would wish to look at a person eating with his mouth opened. Make sure to teach your toddler to chew the food slowly with his/her mouth closed.

7. Don’t dump the food

Make sure to tell your child not to dump the food completely into his/her mouth. Educate your kid to have small morsels. Stuffing the mouth completely with food may result in choking which may lead to serious health problems.

8. Respect the food

Make it clear to your kid not to pass rude comments on the food that is being served. It may hurt the person who cooked the food, spending their valuable energy, time and expense. Also make sure that your child tries every dish that is being served. A well-mannered child will never waste the food that is served to him/her. So, teach your child not to waste a single bit of food that is served to him/her.

9. Don’t pick your teeth

Tell your kid not to pick anything out of his/her teeth he/she is at the table. Teach them to use a tooth pick to pick the food that is stuck in their teeth after the food. If the child feels restless, ask him/her to excuse himself/herself and go to the restroom to pick his teeth.

10. Show gratitude

Explain your kid to show his gratitude and affection to the person who cooked and served food for him/her, with a smile and thank you. This makes the host feel happy and proud.
