10 Signs of Depression in Teens

6. Experiencing loss of interest in work/hobbies

Do you find your teenager just sitting idly, without showing any interest in activities that he/she earlier found interesting? Loss of interest and withdrawal from one’s favorite activities are indicators that something is troubling your teenager.

7. Feeling tired all the time

Do you find your otherwise active teenager tired all the time? That’s another warning bell!

8. Showing hostility towards parents and society in general

Excessive hostility and rebellion can be a coping strategy for your depressed teen. So rather than punishing him, you should try to look ahead and find the real reason behind such behavior.

9. Preferring to be alone

Every teenager in general is very particular about his/her privacy. But if you find your child withdrawing from all of his/her friends and family, then it’s a sign that he needs help.

10. Obsessing over suicide/death

If your teen’s conversation revolves around feelings of death or suicide, then don’t take this lightly and act fast.

Support your teenager in this difficult time. Be there for him/her and do make sure that you show him/her to a good therapist/psychiatrist so that he/she can come out of this difficult time.
